2015 Shakedown

Test the Rest

Pre Mull Rally Shakedown(s)

shakedown

As the Mull Rally organisers are not in a position to offer a shakedown on the Island this year, they have asked John Parker Associates to run a full tarmac rally car shakedown, this will take place on the famous Rest and be Thankful, the iconic hill climb in Argyll with 4.2k of challenging tarmac road, this will be the ideal test prior to the Rally.

The test will run up hill (using the A83 as the return route) with cars starting on 1 min intervals, there will be a limit of 20 cars allowed, but an unlimited number of runs. There will not be any timing done but it will be staffed just like a Rally Stage. If you are planning to compete on the Mull Rally, it will be a perfect shakedown, but it is not limited to those crews competing on the event, it will be strictly first come, first served.

We have applied to the Owners of the Rest to operate during the period running up to the Rally – i.e. from Saturday 3rd October until Wednesday 7th October. Which day(s) are to be used is entirely dependent upon which day(s) enough people want to take part.

The cost is £149 with a mandatory deposit of £100 on booking. We need to make all entries aware that the road is now used as a by-pass in the event of a land slide on the A83, although it is highly unlikely to occur at this time of year, a full refund would be paid in the event of cancellation.

The test will run from 09:00 to 16:00, there will be full catering facilities available until 16:00 and there are public toilets very close to the venue.

As an alternative, we can organise a shakedown on the MOD roads at Dundrennan ranges Kirkcudbright, near Dumfries, on 1 day during the period Tuesday 22nd to Thursday 24th Sept. This is a loop of almost 3 miles using fast and narrow roads of a good surface with a variety of corners. Again which day depends upon which day people want to go there.

To book a place on these rare events please contacts John Parker on 07885 – 804545 or Brian Kinghorn on 01768 – 483955.

Alternatively email jparally@gmail.com or kinghorn600@btinternet.com. When applying, please advise us which venue and which day(s) would be your 1st and 2nd choices.

2015 Unseeded Entry List

In 36 hours the entry list for the 2015 Beatson’s Building Supplies Mull Rally is full to overflowing with a reserve list already containing some regulars. The unseeded entry list is now published and the entries numbered from 351 onwards are the reserves. As we usually do get a few drop out nearer the event it is worth being on the reserve list if you want to join us in October. For the last three years we have had as many as 25 entries withdraw before the rally. Therefore it is well worth getting your entry in as we really need 170+ entries to start 150.

Competitors are reminded about SR 3.5 that full payment of entry must be with the organisers within 5 days of submitting their entry through the online entry system to guarantee their place.
